How AR works!

How it Works!

The Accelerated Reader program is a computerized program that tests reading comprehension. Students select books on their reading level, read independently, and take an independent comprehension test on the computer. Each book is worth a certain number of points based on its length and complexity. Students must also get a certain percentage of these points based on how many of the test questions they get correct.  Grade 2 student must achieve assigned points and an average of 80% for the 9 weeks on all quizzes.  Grades 3-5 students must achieve assigned points for the 9 weeks and an average of 85% on all quizzes.   The program tracks student progress over the course of each grading period and at the end of the grading period all students that achieved their goal will be rewarded!
